"Tips for Preparing A Property for Spring"
Apply early spring lawn fertilizer once between February and April, when your grass is starting to green up and begin to actively grow (around the time your lawn first needs to be mowed).
Whether you're using a core aerator or a steel spike aerator, you should cover the lawn completely in one direction and go back over it in a perpendicular motion.
Spike aerators punch holes in your lawn as you go, while core aerators work to remove grass and soil plugs.
Be sure all plant material is turned under the soil. If organic material is added before planting a fall garden, it should be well-rotted, such as compost. Before planting, rake the soil clean and level it. Remove all sticks, rocks, and other materials.
Remove vent covers and wash them. Remove your vent covers with your screwdriver. ... Cover vent openings with paper towels. Cover the openings to your supply registers with a few paper towels. Loosen the dust, vacuum it up and change your air filter then replace vent covers.
Look closely at the icicles around the exterior of your house. If the icicles are confined to the gutters and there is no water trapped behind them, then an ice dam has likely not formed. Check for water stains or moisture in your attic or along with the ceiling of exterior walls of your house.
Winterize your snowblower by adding a Fuel Stabilizer. Every time you refill your gas cans with fresh gasoline, the first step is to add a fuel stabilizer to the can before filling it up. Drain the Fuel out and seal and protect your engine. Then wipe it down and lubricate it.
Check and change lightbulbs outside of your property if they are no longer working. Start your air conditioner to ensure it's ready and operating properly or call your landlord or repairman and get it looked at before the warm summer months ahead.
Sweep salt and sand from your garage floor (rinse out with water if needed)
Check seals on doors and garages to ensure they are close tightly and that there are no holes from animals trying to get inside the property.
Remove plastic film from windows (if you use them to keep heat in)
